It has been hot and humid since we arrived in the Bahamas. So much so, that we haven’t wanted to heat up the cabin by doing any baking. Today we finally got a break in the humidity so I made George’s blueberry streusel coffee cake. I realize I shouldn’t complain about the weather. Our friends at home have told us how cold it is there. If it makes it any better—we have also had a lot of wind and squalls today. As I write this another squall is blowing through.
Ready to bake in the Omnia stovetop oven.
Baking. Believe it or not, the Omnia heats the cabin less than the regular oven.
All done.
While I was making coffee cake George was trying to fix the problem of too much air in the watermaker prefilter. He took all the the fittings apart, cleaned them and put them all back together. He inspected hoses for leaks and tightened hose clamps. None of that fixed the problem. George had noticed that Richard—on the boat Good Company—was holding a Rainman koozie when we stopped by his boat a few days ago. George decided to dinghy over today and ask if Richard had a Rainman watermaker, did he know much about them, and did he have a spare prefilter o-ring. It turns out that—not only did he have a Rainman—but he and his son own a yacht rigging company in FL that also sells Rainman watermakers! His company is one of the places George called to ask about the leak we had. Richard gave George some advice but unfortunately did not have a spare o-ring. If everything else George tries fails to work we will arrange to have spare o-rings sent to us from Richard’s company.

That looks so delicious!
