Black Point to Big Majors Spot

The first thing on the agenda yesterday was laundry at Rockside Laundry in Black Point. We arrived at the laundromat shortly after 8 am. Although we had two loads of laundry to wash there was just one washing machine available. Ida—who owns the laundromat— was using all other machines to wash the bedding in the cottages she owns. I guess Saturday is turnover day in Black Point. No problem. It took a little longer to do our laundry but it is a lovely place to wait.
In the afternoon George and I gave each other haircuts. The wind was relatively light so we didn’t have too much hair flying around the cockpit but the afternoon sun made sitting under the black cape hot. It feels strange to say that since our friends and relatives in the NE were enduring record-breaking cold temperatures at the same time.
This morning we left Black Point and sailed eight miles N to Big Majors Spot, near Staniel Cay. It was a sporty downwind sail with winds of 13-18 knots and seas of 2-4 feet. We were often moving at over 7 knots with just the mainsail.

A ray swam right by the dinghy as we left the laundromat.

Before we left Black Point we had a brief squall and rainbow.

Pig beach, home of the swimming pigs. This is quite the tourist attraction. The pigs will swim out to your dinghy, hoping to get fed. The first time we visited a pig tried to jump into our dinghy. This is about as close as we will get to pig beach this visit.

Sea plane taking off from just past the anchorage. We have seen seaplanes go right up to pig beach. If this one visited the beach I missed it.
