Preparing for the Storm

This morning we walked a mile and a half across the peninsula to pick up some groceries at the Winn Dixie. We thought we had better get that chore done before the storm gets any closer. As it was, we were pelted by flying acorns a few times. We bought a fair amount of heavy produce but managed to get it back to the boat using a backpack and cloth tote bag.

While I did some cooking George added a few dock lines and an extra tie around the jib. He also took the cover off of the dinghy. One less thing to fly around when the winds pick up. Right now we aren’t expecting wind more than 45 knots so we have left the canvas where it is.

This afternoon our dock mates, Sue and George, invited us to join them for an early dinner at Arté Pizza in town. We had a great dinner and enjoyed the company. After returning to the marina we all sat on the dock and watched the sun set.

Carrying groceries in the bag made by my friend, Anne. We love the many large oak trees with Spanish moss.

The heaviest groceries were in George’s dry bag backpack.

Sunset in Brunswick.

  1. Have you ever stayed on the boat during a tropical storm? You are seasoned sailors and safe in the harbor so that is good. It will be over soon.
