We had a nice—but bumpy—sail from Conception Island to Cat Island yesterday. We were sailing dead downwind and weren’t even sure we would be able to depend on sailing at such a low angle. We had just enough wind (in the mid teens) to keep the mainsail filled at 170° apparent wind. The 3-4 ft seas kept the boat lurching in all kinds of directions. Once we arrived at Cat Island we anchored in Old Bight—at the southern end of the island—for protection from the south winds.
The following are more photos from our time at Conception Island.
Coral reef.
Blue Chromis. We saw a lot of these. They are iridescent when the sun shines on them.
Helicopter landing on the support boat for the mega yacht, Legacy.
The beach is beautiful and perfect for walking.
The mega yacht, Lady Joy, passing by very close.
