In preparation for our passage to the Bahamas tomorrow I spent a few hours this morning making a lentil salad as well as mac & cheese for our passage meals. We will heat the mac & cheese in the oven tomorrow before we cross the Gulf Stream. On Thursday, after we cross the stream and the temperatures are much warmer, we will eat the cold lentil salad. While I was cooking George was working on the electronic paperwork for entering the Bahamas (Click 2 Clear.) It takes hours to complete, much longer than it used to when completing the paperwork in person—just like at the doctor’s office.

We have decided to leave for the Bahamas tomorrow before daylight. When we looked back and saw that it took us 58 hours to make this trip last year we decided we wanted to leave very early to increase our chances of getting to the marina before the marina—as well as customs and immigration—close for the day. Because it will be dark when we leave Brunswick, and the current will be strong, we decided to leave the marina at slack tide this afternoon while we had daylight and extra hands to help. We are now anchored 1/2 mile from the marina.
After we anchored George cut the broken batten into three pieces so we could store it in the garage. We didn’t want to be stepping on the 14’ long batten all winter long.
Lentil salad. The one in the aluminum tin is meant for Thursday’s meal. We generally use disposables on our passage to reduce time in the gallery doing dishes. We rarely use disposables otherwise.
The mac & cheese on the right will go in the oven tomorrow. We ate the one on the left today.
Two of the three pieces of batten.
Tonight’s sunset.
Full moon. We will certainly appreciate it at night on our passage.
And what a beautiful moon it was. Hopefully it will shine some light for you tonight as well!
ReplyDeleteIt did shine light again, so bright it was almost like daylight.
