George Town 1/26/26-1/27/26

Since arriving in George Town we spent one night at anchor in Masters Harbour, then moved yesterday morning to “Da Middle,” an area roughly in the middle of the harbor but relatively close to town. We dinghied into town to get fuel, beer, and a few groceries. The harbor outside of George Town, known as Elizabeth Harbour, is huge and can hold hundreds of boats. When we were here in early December with my brother, Dave, there were only about 40 boats here. Now there are over 200. Everywhere we went while running our errands yesterday was crowded but we managed to get everything done. After returning to Breeze On we cleaned the cabin and I baked some chocolate chip cookies in the GoSun oven.  In the afternoon we raised the anchor and moved across the harbor to a mooring ball in the Gaviota Bay East mooring field, near the Chat ‘n Chill Beach Bar and Grill. It is close to shore and should allow us to get to shore for hikes and to eat out on occasion while our daughter and son-in-law are visiting. A cold front came through early this morning and it is now quite windy and choppy in the harbor. We are hoping that it calms down enough tomorrow afternoon to allow us to bring our daughter and son-in-law across the harbor in the dinghy without everyone getting soaked. I will be taking a break from the blog for the next few days while we enjoy our visit.

It has been gloomy for most of the day here. Boats are anchored as far as you can see and this is just a portion of the boats anchored in the large Elizabeth Harbour.

I finished my latest pair of socks today. They are made with two strands of yarn held together and are thicker and cushier than socks made with a single strand of yarn. We are expecting cooler weather here at the end of the week, I may even wear these!

  2. Beverly, enjoy your visitors. And when you get a chance, could you text me info on the cuff of that sock you made. I like that. Hope the socks keep your feet warm. It’s so cold here, choptank is icing over in spots. Just read that water temp is 30 so enjoy the warmth.

    1. I emailed the pattern to you, Grace. Let me know if you received it. We are enjoying the relative warmth, even though it is colder than usual here. I have nice warm socks if I need them, though.

  3. By contrast, it was -5° on my way to work today. I’m sure Pam and Brad will be thrilled to get out of the northeast. Enjoy the kids!
